Aryna Sabalenka

Sabalenka was born in Belarus in Minsk. Her father Sergey (d. in 2019) was an professional ice hockey player. Aryna Sabalenka was born Minsk, Belarus on May 5th, 1998. She has won 12 WTA titles in her career. Among them is winning the Grand Slam of 2023 Australian Open. In doubles, she is a great player. She's been a winner of two Majors with Elise Mertens in the US Open in 2019 and the Australian Open in 2021. She also achieved her Sunshine Double in 2019, by winning the WTA 1000 at Indian Wells, Miami and the Australian Open together with Elise Mertens. Only four women's pairings have achieved this feat. The Belarusian rose from second place to third on the world singles rankings on 23 August 2021. Her highest rank was again achieved in January 2023. As a double, she was able to propel her way to the top during February of that same year after her win in Melbourne and becoming the 2nd tennis player from Belarus to be a part of this area. Dmitry Tursunov, a former Russian tennis pro, worked with her from the 2018 season up to the final and the beginning of 2020's season. Dieter Kindlmann played a short time as her coach in August of 2020 until September. Antonio Dubrov, her fellow countryman, has been coaching her in the years since 2020. Her idols include Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova.
